Bourbon Street Hotels

Bourbon Street hotels are located on the liveliest, most intriguing strip in New Orleans. Rooms are often lavish, with some even offering wrought-iron balconies overlooking New Orleans' most famous street, giving guests a first row seat to all of the action. Rooms like this are in especially high demand during Mardi Gras and the city's many festivals, so be sure to book early.

While there are many places to stay in the downtown area, only a handful can really call themselves "Bourbon Street hotels." Rates depend upon the season, of course, but these hotels all boast a wide range of amenities, including wireless Internet access, business centers, fitness centers, pools, fine restaurants and lounges, and 24-hour room service. All are close to Harrah's Casino, the Aquarium of the Americas, Woldberg Riverfront Park, and the French Quarter.

During the day, Bourbon Street is much like any other street in the French Quarter. It's quiet and serene, with tourists strolling, lunching, and browsing through the shops and stores as saloon and restaurant owners clean up and hose down the sidewalks from the previous night's partying. At twilight, the music starts, the lights come on, and Bourbon Street awakens for its nightlong carnival all over again.

Since New Orleans has no closing hour for its bars, the cacophony of Bourbon Street's nightlife lasts into the wee hours. Should you prefer visiting the street in daylight hours and hearing less from it when you're trying to sleep, request a room on the inside of your hotel complex, preferably one overlooking a courtyard or pool. Otherwise, you may want to consider a hotel a block or two away from all the merriment.

Whether you're in town for a festival, wedding, or just to sightsee, staying on Bourbon Street is sure to leave you with memories you'll keep for a lifetime!
