Located on a 56-acre site near the Lakefront area of New Orleans, the University of New Orleans Research and Technology Park is a $162 million center that opened in 1998.

"This center makes New Orleans an especially attractive place to locate a business in the technology industry," says UNO Chancellor Greg O'Brien, whose vision brought the high tech center to New Orleans. O'Brien's goal is to have 10,000 high tech jobs located in New Orleans by the year 2010.

The Park's core tenant, the 400,000-square-foot Space and Naval Warfare Information Technology Center (SPAWARITC) employs more than 1500 computer professionals in 35 high tech firms. It also provides cost efficient technical solutions to support the business needs including work force, personnel, training and payroll functions for the U.S. Navy and the Department of Defense. A full range of Information Technology projects support the systems engineering, telecommunications, architecture, design and quality assurance services offered by ITC.

The Research and Technology Park is also home to the Advanced Technology Center, housing 12 top technology, information systems and engineering firms, and employing an additional 300 technology workers. The majority of the tenants are local firms seeking proximity to the university, the IT Center and those seeking to build cooperative relationships with one another. The ATC opened in March, 2001.

The Park's newest facility, the Center for Energy Resources Management, a 104,000-square-foot university research center includes a 15,000-square-foot biotechnology incubator, and the 22,000-square-foot, Lindy C. Boggs International Conference Center, opened in February 2003. A 144 Hilton Garden Inn will soon be located at the Center.
