New Orleans Restaurants & Cuisine

COOLinary New Orleans
August 2015

Come experience cuisine that delights your palate and is an integral part of the history, fabric and culture of New Orleans. Celebrating dining in “America’s Most Delicious City,” COOLinary New Orleans is once again “on the table” for the month of August.

The Event

For the whole month you can enjoy 2- or 3-course lunch menus for $20 or less and 3-course dinner menus at $39 or less at award-winning, participating restaurants.

And this year something new is being offered: prix-fixe (fixed price) brunch. As a meal meant to be enjoyed leisurely throughout the noon hour, brunch is taken very seriously in New Orleans. Participating restaurants will be offering 3-course brunch menus for $39 or less.

These prices are only offered for one month out of the year, so there’s no better time to try out a few of these award-winning restaurants during your stay.

The Restaurants

Most of the restaurants taking part in this year’s promotion are conveniently located in the French Quarter or downtown New Orleans, and are within walking distance from most major hotels. More than 40 restaurants will be participating, including some of the more famous ones like Antoine’s, Arnaud’s, Galatoire’s, K-Paul’s, Commander’s Palace and many others in nearly all of New Orleans’ most accessible neighborhoods.

More and more restaurants are signing up every day so be sure to check back often on the event’s website.

Lagniappe at the St. Roch Market

In French (or “New Orleans-speak,” as we call it here), the word “lagniappe” means “a little something extra”. The historic, newly reopened St. Roch Market in the city’s Faubourg Marigny neighborhood is offering “lagniappe” from each of its 13 individual vendors, representing coastal and local food specialties. They also have a “Happy Hour,” every Monday to Friday from 4 – 6 p.m. Each vendor offers a different special deal.

The St. Roch Market is located at the corner of St. Claude and St. Roch avenues, just a short taxi or pedicab ride from the French Quarter and downtown. And be sure to bring your camera or camera phone. The restored old market is a sight you won’t see in too many other cities.
