Ruth’s Chris Steak House, a homegrown New Orleans institution since its founding by Ruth Fertel in 1965, celebrates its return to New Orleans on Friday, May 16, at its newest location on the Fulton Street Mall.
Occupying the site of the former Riche restaurant on the ground flood of Harrah’s New Orleans Hotel, Ruth’s Chris will host a block party in the mall to benefit the Louisiana Hospitality Foundation. The event, which will go from 6–10 p.m., will feature food from each of the restaurants on Fulton Street, including Ruth’s Chris, Gordon Biersch, Grand Isle and Ernst Café. Entertainment will be provided by Rockin’ Dopsie Jr., The Top Cats and One A-Chord.

Tickets are available for $50 and may be purchased online and at all Ticketmaster locations. For information, reservations, or to purchase gift cards, visit www.RuthsChris.com or call 1-800-544-0808.

About Ruth’s Chris Steak House

Ruth's Chris Steak House, Inc. is the largest fine-dining steakhouse company in the U.S., with 121 locations worldwide. Founded in New Orleans by the late Ruth Fertel, Ruth's Chris specializes in USDA Prime grade steaks served in Ruth's Chris signature fashion ... "sizzling."

Ruth’s Chris’ original location at the corner of North Broad and Orleans streets in the Mid-City section of New Orleans flooded during Katrina and never reopened. Corporate officials moved headquarters to Orlando, Florida and the only remaining Ruth’s Chris location in the New Orleans area, until now, was in Metairie. Company officials recently said that they have no plans to reopen the Broad Street location, so the announcement of the new restaurant on the Fulton Street Mall was cheered as yet another positive sign of the city’s recovery.

About Louisiana Hospitality Foundation

The Louisiana Hospitality Foundation is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2006, and made up of New Orleans hospitality industry leaders. The organization’s mission is to improve the community and provide support for the education, health and social welfare of New Orleans-area children. The board represents some of the biggest names of Louisiana’s hospitality industry. The funds they receive from this event will go toward assisting the hospitality industry and new culinary and arts education programs for area children.
