In New Orleans, unlike everywhere else, we don't just eat to live: "We live to eat." Our cuisine is a part of who we are and we are proud to share it with the rest of the world. Especially our fresh seafood.

This month, during the week of the 10th through the 16th, the Louisiana Restaurant Association's Greater New Orleans Chapter is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Louisiana Seafood Restaurant Week.

During this weeklong celebration of New Orleans cuisine, participating restaurants in the New Orleans metro area will offer special prix fixe (fixed price) menus, giving diners the opportunity to try items at 25 percent off the regular price. The restaurants that are taking part in this promotion will be offering two-course lunches for $20 and three-course dinners for $35.

Participating restaurants range from fine dining establishments to favorite neighborhood bistros. Once again, Louisiana Seafood is the title sponsor of Restaurant Week, and their participation will ensure that each restaurant includes at least one Louisiana seafood option. Louisiana seafood is world-renowned for its freshness and authentic taste. As one French Quarter restaurant advertises, "The oysters on your plate right now slept last night in the Gulf of Mexico."

Last year's inaugural Restaurant Week was a huge success, with 38 participating LRA member restaurants offering locals and tourists alike a special value at the tastiest spots in town. As of mid-August 2012, 36 restaurants had confirmed their participation with more expected to join in.

For a list of participating restaurants, as well as their menus and contact information for reservations, go to this link: www.welivetoeatnola.com/restaurant-week/. Due to great demand, early reservations are strongly recommended.
