There’s no place like New Orleans to spend Memorial Day Weekend. With local festivals, patriotic attractions and incredible food, there will be no shortage of spectacular celebrations around the Big Easy.


As we honor those who died in their service of our country’s armed forces, Memorial Day Weekend marks the beginning of the summer season, and New Orleans’ abundance of activities makes it the perfect place to spend the holiday.

Here are just a few highlights of what you’ll typically find over the weekend in Nola:


Greek Fest
Head to Bayou St. John to experience the 2016 Annual Greek Festival! Be be sure to stop by for delicious homemade traditional Greek food and wine, amazing desserts, live music, cooking demonstrations, shopping, and other special events.

New Orleans Wine and Food Experience
The New Orleans Wine and Food Experience joins the forces of hundreds of incredible restaurants and wineries together in the French Quarter. The weekend will be packed with intimate wine dinners at New Orleans’ finest restaurants, informative seminars for both new and experienced wine drinkers, and special events like the Royal Street Stroll led by the Krewe of Cork, typically on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. .


The National World War II Museum
Spend a day this Memorial Day Weekend at The National World War II Museum, a must-see for any history buff. Ranked by TripAdvisor as the No. 3 Museum in the US in 2015, the galleries and artifacts bring American history to life.

The Fly
If you’d like to spend your Memorial Day relaxing in the sun along the Mississippi River, The Fly is just the place. Bring beers, barbecue, friends, and a Frisbee to this popular Uptown hangout.
